Gti Transmission issue

I was wondering how bad my transmission is if it doesn't shift to 3rd. It will rev high then shut off.

It doesn't sound good. DSG or manual? If DSG and you get a flashing PRNDS on the MFD between the gauges right after it means there's a problem. You'll either need to scan the car yourself or take it to a shop that can do that for you to determine what code(s) it's throwing.

Only check engine light is on. I scanned and got.P2711. Took it back to the guy I bought it from and he looked at it. He said he didn't do anything and now it drives normal but still flashes the code. I'm going to take it to a VW shop and see if the can check it out.

Thank you. Just deciding what i should do. Repair or just sell. Would like to repair but not looking forward to a big bill.
