Is ESP the same as ESR?

My wife has a 2006 Jetta Value Edition and it has ESR beneath the stereo. Is this the same as ESP (Electronic Stability Program)?

Thanks

It's ASR, not ESR lol And no, they're not the same thing.

ASR: traction control. Applied braking to wheels that are losing traction.

ESP: many safety features into one. Has traction control (ASR) and can apply braking to any wheel to control the car when it's "losing control" or drifting and bring it back to where it's supposed to go.

.

ASR actually just cuts throttle doesn't apply the brakes at all.

EDL applies the brakes to the wheel that is spinning faster then the other to balance out wheel speed sort of acting like a limited slip diff.

i fucking hate EDL. it's almost killed me 2 or 3 times, or eat least almost made my insurance go up. however i am glad my car has it.

ASR is great in snow/wet conditions, basically you hear a DSG fart but you didn't shift. sometimes you can get 3 or 4 dsg farts in a quick series if you're on a hill with snow or something.
