^Good luck with VWoA - I had a really nice experience with them - nice polite conversation and asking for help resulted in them fixing my throttle body even after my car was out of warranty. I also have something similar to your situation each time I make a hard turn and brake - my car beeps 3 times while the abs and traction control stays lit and brake blinks, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnCMTdEW50A - it freaks me out each time but after I shut down and turn the car back on it goes away.

That's how mine started and I told them a couple times but since it went away they didn't care much about it and now look where I'm at

Did the dealer explain how exactly the steering rack is damaged, in what way? And what can cause that damage? Also, how would the module get damaged? I found some info on TDI forum where a guy with mkv tdi jetta said that the steering module sits just above the dog bone mount and if someone would put the dog bone insert and use a screw that's a bit longer could damage it - could that be the same on our GTI's/GLI's? You said you are stock so this probably doesn't apply to you. They also mentioned some kind of ground wire from transmission loosening up and causeing the power steering module not to communicate with can bus - any suggestion guys? If they decide not to cover the repair, could you buy a power steering module alone and swap it and see if that would fix the issue? How much could the module cost?

So vwofa just called and said it's my fault all that shit went bad because of my hi-low converter from my amplifier the hi-low converter is a small box that plugs into a speaker to pass sound through the amp for a sub so I'm fucked
Hi-low would not cause that especially being plugged into a speaker
Fuck Vw

If you can find an expert who believes he could make your case beyond a shadow of a doubt, I'd suggest finding a lawyer to write you a letter rebutting this.

I'm not much for car audio, so I don't know, personally.

It's not rocket science I'm sure everyone has some form of car audio mods
Speakers are for sound not power, so if my speaker pops my car blows up?
Makes no sense they didn't even take into consideration all the times I went in for big problems BS with them especially the tech that said the hi-low caused all that
He's the dumbest person alive

Did they tell you what parts/part numbers need to be replaced? Lets find out and we'll look online and find them the cheapest possible and then you could have a third party installer, someone you trust and that has experience with VW's (I'm lucky I have Dan to fix mine if need be) and do it for much less than $3,000.00. Can you or someone in the know post the part numbers that we would need to replace? Thanks.

I went to the dealer to get my car back and to get the diagnostic results, they wouldn't give me my car or a result. I asked to speak to the mechanic and of course he is not there and the service writter on my car was not in so they didn't want to help me at all.
I think they are hiding something and that's why they didn't want to give me my car back so I have to go back today and try again.

Now the warranty is only good for 30k? When I bought my GTI in 06 the warranty was 5yrs/50k bumper to bumper.

just got my car back and the problem is still there, The mechanic that installed the abs unit said he doesn't think that was even a problem to begin with. So a trip to the dealer is in order today to get my 500 bucks back for their bullshit diagnostic
