Emailing A_P_R for R8's HPFP fuel flow rate. Shsss... everyone be quiet! they sells fuel pumps too.
I guess another clue to found out the HPFP capacity would be the injectors flow rate. It's a direct comparison since the 4.2V8 is so similar to the 2.0L I4 4.2L S5 injector: PN: 079906036C 2.0L FSI injector PN: 06F906036A The two parts, again, look identical. So, by your account of the fuel pump specs that you have (BTW where did you get them from? Just curious), it'd exceed the max requested bar on a stage 2+ APR tune?

Well the RS4 PRV cracks at 136 bar, soooo....
From my very short search on my shitty work computer, the APR stage 2+ requests 130 bar? Sooo... Buy $180 fuel pump, and buy RS4 PRV. Win.

I don't think there's a direct correlation between pressure and flow rate. A pump with 136 bar doesn't mean it will flow more...or does it?

So I found a similar topic discussed and APR confirmed that it is 136 bar. check here : http://forums.fourtitude.com/showthr...ure-gt-120-bar
and also http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_377.pdf ; |

This sounds great and all, but am I the only one to notice the "cap" on the pumps are different? (where the pressure relief valve is - there's 2 threaded "exits" on ours, and it looks like only one on the R8)
Could we mix and match parts between the pumps - like transferring the barbed fuel part to the R8 pump - to end up with a higher flow "OEM" pump? You would assume they just modified the internals to match the flow required by each engine...this would be great for the VW enthusiast community!

I simply have my doubts about this and honestly don't think it will come out in our favor.

I'm doing the research and look at the numbers. Worst thing, I could just buy the 4.2L pump for $189 and do a detail analysis to put this at rest. May be try to install and do a vagcom run at WOT to see if the fuel cut out. If things doesn't fit at the first try, no worries, I can still return the pump for 100% store credit. But if it does, FUCK OFF APR!!!! ![]() If the Q7 pumps fit the 2.0FSI with little mods, I will seriously try out the 4.2 and 5.2 R8's next. Let's just hope it's cheaper than APR pump. |

Haha sorry if I sounded like buzzkillington! I just think that the stock 4.2L has dual pumps for a reason. I doubt that it will be able to supply that much more than our pumps. If it does, fitment will be the next issue as I'm sure you will not be able to simply swap the pumps. Internals will need to be changed. I'm wondering why our HPFP is worth 2x the cost of the 4.2L though.

Does APR have a tune for the 4.2? I'm too lazy to look.

How much HP does it put out? Much less than twice a Stage 1 GTI, so I don't think a 4.2 pump flows much. And do both 4.2 pumps only have one fitting?

The 4.2L FSI V8 pump internals are identical to the 2.0T FSI.

Yes, the R8 pump is the same. Trust me, in 2006 or so this was all the rage. We already had the technical drawings showing the pumps were the same size but we bought and tried them anyways.

verdict
4.2LFSI pump is 95% same as 2.0LFSI and there's no benefit mounting the 4.2Ls on the GTI. I still have to see what the 5.2L HPFP like and see if that worths a shot. |
