OK just got off the phone with my good friend that has a transmission shop. He had me go out to the car and do a few things. And his conclusion is that I spun a axle shaft. He's going to pick up the car on Monday. Crossing fingers now.

Never heard of that term. You can spin a bearing, but how do you spin an axle?

Sounds like you broke the axle at the CV joint or something in that area. Hopefully that's all it is. good luck!

And the winner goes to Mooseckes,

Here's a pic the drivers side broke in half and I didn't want to pull it out because I still need to move the car.

I don't know about MKV CV joints, but some axles, like the ones I had in my '91 Mazda, won't completely separate and leave you stuck.

I'll post pics when it's out of the car with the boot off. See what really failed.

i would hardly think the diff could get fucked from a snapped cv....
as far as axles, dont buy into the hype of beefed up expensive axles. preload on launch for us MT guys, well i guess for AT too.
i know of a couple 600-700hp hondas on stock axles at the track, with slicks. not to say that the CV's dont eventually wear out, but lifetime warranty from vatozone...

Here's pics of the destruction that I promised, the bearing ring guide is destroyed.

All is fixed now, I replaced both axles due to a tear in the others boot and its over 100K miles.

A broken half shaft is a nerve racking sound, you totally think you effed your car up, luckily it's not a bad fix.
