Here's our quick install vid, hopefully it helps to give a overview of the steps. Overall it's a pretty painless process :)

We've been running the Pre-Order sale for a longer than we originally planned as it's taken a bit longer to get everything up and going on these newest models. So we're going to end the Pre-Order sale on the 9th, next Monday so if you've been waiting better get in on the deal while it's here!

Pre-Order Sale Ends 11.9.09!!!

Just got my 10" enclosure today. It's super nice! Upon opening the plastic bag I was slapped in the face with the sweet smell of fresh fiberglass Quality appears to be top notch. Excellent carpet work, nice coating on the back side, poly-fill, pre-wired and even included an extra length of speaker wire in case you are running a DVC sub. I probably won't have an opportunity to install for at least a week so I can't comment on fit just yet but I'm not expecting any issues.

I have read and followed many of your posts in this section and value your knowledge. What are you or would you recommend to put in the 10" for a sub as well as amp to power?

A

I currently have a Fi SSD10 in a simple sealed enclosure that I've been running but I'm seriously considering picking up an Image Dynamics IDQ 10 for the side mount enclosure. I think that's a really nice sub that just about anyone will be happy with, understanding that it is only a single 10" and you arejn't going to break any SPL records. For an amp it really depends on what your intentions are with the rest of the system. If all you want to do is power the sub and keep the rest of the stereo stock then something like the Arc Audio KS 125.2 Mini would be a great choice because it's very small, efficient, and has speaker-level inputs. You could mount it inder the hatch floor in the hard foam tray and would only need to tap into the stock speaker wires for a signal to feed it. It'll do 250X1 which is fine for the IDQ10 D2. If you are considering switching out the stock speakers then you could use a pair of minis or look to something like the Alpine PDX4.100, PDX5, or JL HD line to name a few options. You'll also want something like an Audio Control LCi6, JL Cleansweep, or Audison BitOne to convert the speaker-level signal from your head unit (assuming you stick with a stock unit). Quality is okay on the PDX amps. I'm running the PDX5 but have been looking at the new Kronos from Zed Audio.

Running a bit behind today but we'll try to get you a price on that sub if your interested. We did one install with a 8W3 in our new enclosure and it was a good little match!

Don't blame ya, Focal makes great speakers! PM or email me the model number and any specs if you have them (depth, mouthing diameter, magnet diameter and overall outer mounting basket diameter) and I'll see if there's anything we can do.

If possible it would have to be something a bit more custom and I'm guessing the outer diameter is going to be the biggest issue but we'll look at it. :)

Normally we're only about a week out if an enclosure is ordered and is not in stock, but our fiberglass shop has been a bit overwhelmed lately with our orders - because of the poor economy in general they've had to cut back their work force so their only running short production weeks. :(

I'll try to see if we can hurry it along but most likely it's going to be a little bit - maybe late next week best case but could be a bit longer. A couple guys ordered right in front of ya and we fill the orders first come kinda deal...sorry but we'll do our best to get it done asap!

Installed my 10" as soon as I got my hands on it from the man in brown, man that smell was strong! I got my type-R to fit in it, just had to turn the sub so the logo was upside down, i think it had to do with the legs going down to the magnet, but works great. Definitely not as loud as the ported box i had before, but tucks away so nicely and cleanly that I am never going to complain. good construction, wonderful finished product. Just waiting on the trim piece... But the sound quality is good. just wish I laid down some Dynamat or something behind it to cut down on the rattles.

My compliments guys.

Anyone have a DIY on how and where to wire this? Kind of a newb to this area of the auto area. Still not sure if I am going to just run an amp to the sub only or power sub and all speakers. Where and how did you run the wires back to the HU?

The box size for USPS is 130 max. I just found this out when I was trying to ship my rear bumper APO to Germany.. Anyway, is there a idea for a passenger side mount in the future for the guys that would like to put one on both sides?

Lots of options. The easiest is to use an amp with speaker level inputs and tap the speaker wires from the factory system to feed a signal. Something like the Arc Mini 500.1 will fit under the hatch floor if you cut some of the hard foam around the spare tire. You can also mount amps under the front seats and just run the speaker wire to the hatch for the sub. Other option is to get more involved and power at least the front speakers along with the sub. Plac has all factory speakers on Arc mini power IIRC with a sub and is happy. I replaced my front speakers with Rainbows.

If I were you I'd scoop up one of the Blaupunkt wiring harnesses while they are still available. That will let you do whatever you want without cutting any wires.

Thanks We'll get those trim pieces shipped out asap after their manufactured, it helps to finish the enclosure off definately.

Most likely we won't be doing a passenger side :( we've found that the potential customers for this type of enclosure are looking to save as much space as possible, want good quality sound and volume but don't need multiple subs. Not just in subs and amps but two separate vehicle specific enclosures gets to be a pretty expensive investment and most customers can't justify the costs.

Our Subaru models are the most popular, we built a passenger side enclosure that was a mirror opposite of the driver's...it still hasn't sold enough to this day to justify the work, time and money that went into producing it.
