At what point did Mav mention he was a Dr? I was under the impression he was an Ambulance officer or thereabouts.

Because I'm a first aider at work and have training you fall into the area where you have been taught resuscitation in one way and if you all of a sudden perform it another way and the person dies which is highly likely I can't really rely on saying that YouSnooze told me not to bother with rescue breaths or what if they survive but are a vegetable? If they change the resuscitation technique and say not to lock lips that's a different story but until than I'd follow what I've been shown where possible. At the very least if they do change it I won't have to worry about bruised lips after pashing the Annie doll.

Mav you are a bad influence. the night before a bloke called unknown mohammed got stabbed in lakemba. he came in looking like shit. i nearly cracked his chest open. ended up putting x 2 chest drains instead. anyway one of the nurses was like "he is more tachypneic doctor..." "he is desaturating doctor" "his blood pressure is dropping doctor." So i turned around and said to her "thank you Captain obvious, why don't you stop yapping and start helping me do something about it." Bad influence mav!

Just got quoted $1039 from John Hughes Vic Park WA...I asked them to send me an itemised cost breakdown as I was under the impression when they changed my DSG mechatronic most of the components for the DSG service were replaced during the mechatronic replacement.

I'm still waiting for a reply LOL!

don't look at perth only. just by make and model and which service should give you a ballpark figure and what things are included in the service. click on service price guide and scroll down. don't worry about error code bullshit screen at top.

When the mechatronic's is replaced everything that is performed in the DSG service is replaced plus a few extra bits. The DSG service includes the Trans filter, fluid and seal.

From VW VIC PARK WA...still think its a rip off!

The DSG oil and filter are part of the 60k service so technically they should be changed at that service. As the DSG oil and filter were replaced when the mechatronics were replaced, my foreman has advised me there is no need to replace them a second time now but that will affect your service schedule in the future ( meaning the DSG oil and filter would still need to be replaced in another 60,000kms or 4 years from the time the DSG oil was changed)

The 60k service is as follows

Engine oil

Engine oil filter

Air filter

Pollen filter

spark plugs

Fuel filter

Brake fluid

DSG oil

DSG filter

The price of a 60k on a manual (no DSG is $1079)

The price of a 60k on a DSG is $1214.

The only difference in the services is the DSG oil and filter change.

The DSG fluid change is not part of the 60,000km OR 4 year service because it's purely distance based whereas the service is a time or distance based.

If you take a look at the service manual it's listed as a seperate item, this service can be done a lot earlier or a lot later depending on how many kms you travel.

Seriously though how can they come up with a price of $1079 without the dsg service for the following items plus labour?

The 60k service is as follows

Engine oil

Engine oil filter

Air filter

Pollen filter

spark plugs

Fuel filter

Brake fluid

You could bolster your claim by doing one yourself in 60-90 minutes and uploading the video of it to youtube. Could save a lot of people from being "ripped" off by the big bad dealers

If thats all i had to do, all day, every day and had a fully equipped workshop i'm confident it would be no problem. Certainly oil, plugs and filters i've done in 30mins on many occassions on previous cars. Drop the sump plug and oil filter and walk away, air filter is easy (assuming you don't break the cover), 4 spark plugs should take all of 10 mins to remove the coils, replace plugs and refit, bleeding brakes is a one man job with the right tool and takes maybe 2 min per caliper, fuel filter... bleed off pressure and replace, pollen filter, NFI where it is in the Golf but its never usually hard. Replace oil filter and sump plug and top up fluids. 90mins for a trained VW mech with all the tools was being generous. There certainly isn't the labour they claim and charge us for it, essentially you're looking at what, $250-300 in parts and fluids (at our prices mind you). So you think it really take 4-6 hours of labour to complete that work?
