Damn nice gear right there G-Rig!!! Bump for your post.

I would happily buy these but for the fact that the Minister for Finance has closed all doors (luckily I got my LED tails in first). Apparently 500D was my last toy for a while.

Thanks Pharkus, it's top quality gear. Sounds like you snuck a few toys in before the cut off.

Hi 10d, I'm in Brisbane but can post it down for you (shouldn't cost too much).

Yeah a lot of stuff is cheaper in the US like your Golf, but most stuff costs a fair bit here.

Don't know of many authorized internet shops selling them either.

Once you add $50 USD shipping and convert it it's still almost 500$ with no warranty( or at least your spend the difference sending it back once.

This is coming from the guy that changed speakers 2 or 3 times, then went back to the stock ones , not to mention different amps (athough i've upgraded/changed amps a few times too till i found the right ones). The results will be a lot better powering after market speakers vs factory ones.

Agree that these amps work perfectly with the stock system.

Ps. Aren't Dyn's very expensive in the US?

G-Rig,

Sorry, didn't realise you're from Brissy.
I will dig out some more info from GTI_SS. He has the same amp.
At the moment I'm running K2 Focal on the fronts. Sounds better than the standard ones but I think a better amp will do it better justice.

As for placement, can you fit it to replace the factory amp, or is it too tight?

Just heard back from Northfield, the arc minis can fit under the passenger seat where the stock amp goes.

They've done a lot of R36's and two fit nicely in there (but you'd get one in the GTI mk5 unless you remove the air duct.

Good luck with the sale G-Rig. I'm putting together a system now based on your tried and tested model! Unfortunately, I already purchased the Arcs :frown:

I was actually discussing this with my installer today. Two Arc Minis actually fit TOO well where the factory amp is. That is, they fit too flush horizontally and there is no room to connect the RCAs. Going to try fitting one length ways under the front seat in front of the hump and the other horizontally behind the hump. It's a bit of a compromise as the second amp will affect rear passenger feet room!

Was looking at the Dyns from the US and yeah, they were around US$1400 plus delivery so not much saving there from buying locally. Your price is a steal for anyone wanting a no-compromise quality 3-way

I know they can definitely fit two sideways in the Passats, may just need to have another look at it or chose RCA's that done poke out too much (or trim the carpet?).

Will have another look on the weekend anyway.

G-rig,

Is the warranty 12 months? If yes, that means it only got another 4 months.
I don't mind paying your asking price, but I'm a bit uncomfortable with the whole warranty thing. I'm like you, don't mind paying the extra bucks for peace of mind.

Oh well, I'm going to have another listen to GTI_SS car and make my decision.

And oh yeah, those Dyn rocks. Used to have them on my previous ride. Needs power to get them going though.
I'm trying the Focal's K2 Power range now, they are not bad. Very sensitive speakers. The factory amps drive them quite well, until I make up my mind on the rest.

Good luck in your sale.

BUMP!

No probs, that's about right regarding the warranty. Most problems would occur straight away you'd think (ie if the item is faulty) but have been using them since the date listed with no issues. See how you go, no pressure.
Have also listed them on mobileelectronics.

BUMP!

The R36's that NF have done recently used the same 3way speakers and bridge the 4ch into 2x 250W (250W per front side) which seem like plenty.

You could run 125W but they do like more power than less (like most speakers) but i'd prefer to give them that and just run the rear fill off the HU (usually have it faded out).

Haven't heard the Focal for a while but don't mind them (fairly different though).

Cheers,
