Yeah, there were some very capable cars and drivers in that group. I loved pursuing the guys with the wings around 8:00 into the video, and I caught up with another big group of cars at the very end -- I wish the session had been a few minutes longer, I would have been able to pass a few more cars.
The video I posted was from session two and I screwed up all my videos after the third session. When I came off the track at the end of the third session I forgot to turn off the camera, so it recorded over an hour of my car sitting in the paddock with the hood up to cool down. When I went back out for the next session and tried to start a recording, I actually stopped the camera, so I have no footage of that. I was out of sync from then on. ![]() My coworker with the Z06 did something similar with my second GoPro, after the fourth session he somehow flipped the camera into still image interval mode. The camera took almost five hundred still images a few seconds apart. Not great, but much more interesting than my shots of my open hood.

I go with Speed district.
http://www.speeddistrict.com/events It's pricier, but much more lenient. You get photo CD of your car too included. You get to have passenger if you want to bring a friend. It's also less maximum number of ppl. About 50. It's much sicker than the other groups I've been with. You definitely get 2 track days in one.

Good to know, thanks for the heads up. It seems to all work out when you figure the cost of the cd, cool idea.

Set top time of day at my first Rallycross today. I was driving someone else's Subaru Legacy GT with coilovers and sways (setup for autox not rally).
This was my first time racing on dirt, and it was quite fun. It was also great beating the fully caged prepared stage rally cars on dirt/snow tires in a street tire full interior Legacy. I have no belief that I am a good rally driver, but it goes to show how much driver development gets done in the autocross environment compared to other forms of motorsport. It is just hard to beat getting constantly compared to other drivers at every possible opportunity.

HPDE at Willow Springs International Raceway.
PS: Ended the session early because I got a REFUEL NOW message on the MFD. It helps to check the fuel level before going out on the track, lesson learned... Last edited by PRND[S]; 02-19-2012 at 11:10 PM. |

Looks nice and a fun group of cars. It looks like you can run a lot harder through the most important turn, before the big straight. Is there a reason you don't go faster and track out by pit lane...traffic permitting? Your not using a lot of the track in this section.

I feel that I am barely holding onto the track. The inside line is bumpy and the radius of the turn gets progressively tighter -- turn nine is the most dangerous turn of the track and people have gotten killed there after drifting to the left and rolling. I set up on the outside and then shoot for a late apex.
I need to look into some dedicated track wheels and tires, I am currently using my daily driver Star Specs. They aren't bad but also not ideal. |

NT01 are the tires most of my friends use. No need for a long warmup.

If you carry too much speed in turn nine, you'll never make it to the run-off area. I have seen one car roll and get totalled there, I have gone two tires off there myself, and last year a NASA racer rolled there and died despite getting airlifted out. I know I can go faster there but I don't think taking a tighter line is the answer.
