Another cracked housing on turbo

I've seen a few threads about cracked housings so i decided to check mine while removing my CM stg 4 clutch and sure enough my housing was cracked. I ended up removing the turbo to have it welded since i have to overnight a new clutch from CM..

95k+ miles-Engine mods=APR Program and fuel pump - 2.5" downpipe

Yup, after enough track days my dad warped the block in his 996. Wet sump + serious track days = RMS problems.

alternatively, you can pick up a used turbo assembly with anywhere from 12k-30k miles for between $350-500

Since the turbo is already off, you should port-polish the exhaust side of the turbo!

Well port polish = 150-250
K04 - ~ $1200 (not too sure about that number)

man... this is getting a bit bothersome to hear. now im more concerned than i used to be about all this chipping business. suppose it doesnt effect me anyway since i dont track, plus i never keep any car past 60k miles.. but still..

Are the IHI turbos about the same as the Borg Warner turbos as far as tolerances for taking a beating?
