Hi Guys,

I just joined this forum and it looks like you guys know your cars...

I recently purchased an 08 R32 with low kms..

I have noticed though that there is a creaking sound in the back end of the car. I took it back to the dealer today and the service manager said its the brakes and its a common thing with this model car, this seems odd to me as i have owned a number of cars and have never had such a problem.

Its mainly when i am parking or the car is stationary that its making the creaking noises... any help would be much appreciated.

It is a 3dr or 5dr?
Do you get it when you pull the hand brake while on an incline?

Thanks for getting back to me guys...

It was an ex demo so its now only done 7000km, i bought it when it had 4500km....

Awesome car to drive am really happy with it just concerned about this noise... i pretty much said that to the dealer yesterday and he just brushed it and said it was common..

Its a 5 door, yeh i do actually... and when im parking in a tight space it seems to make the noise a bit too...

I get a creaking noise when I am parked on an incline and releasing the parking brake or brakes. It happens to other cars I have owned too.

But getting a creaking noise when parking in a tight space is unusual. Perhaps get it checked out by an independent vw specialist like European Autotech in Mona Vale - speak to Derek.

Aahh! this reminds me of something another member mentioned to me only a week ago. He said the fix was to tape up the metal loops with electrical tape. This fixes the rattle caused by the seat catches when in contact with the metal retaining loops. I don't have that problem and it didn't come to mind because you mentioned creaking not rattling.

There is a huge thread on here about creaking noises - a large portion of the early part had to do with the seat latches and possible remedies. Search would do the job but might take a bit of trawling thru.

2 of my friends and I also have this problem. We hear it when the handbrake is pulled, and you rock the car a little. I assume it's the brakes, and somewhat normal...?

How can it be the brakes when the handbrake is pulled on? The pads are clamped tight onto the rotor and can't move, so can't squeak.

It's more likely just a rubber bush squeaking, maybe the sway bar.

Get under and squirt a bit of CRC around and see if you can find it that way.

Search for fuel line rattle. I don't know if it will relate to the R but i would assume that fuel delivery lines would run in the same area along both cars.

Otherwise need more info to narrow down what it might be.
