yeah, im always talking to the senior members ... the one thing that still confuses me is. how come you were using wider tires on your 17X7 wheels. i think i have an idea of how offset works now. but shouldnt you use like 17x8 or 8.5 for your 245? ...

somebody posted a big post on this thread. of how you should use the same size for both wheels and tires. "don't go too big for your rim width or you will be doing the elastic fantastic."

Well we've all tried to do the elastic fantastic, but it only seems to be useful in stock SCCA classes where you're limited to OEM wheel width and diameter. I've seen a Miata with 255's in stock class! It's worth a little time, but if you have a choice, it isn't worth it because it's just cheaper and it drives better to get proper sizes wheels and tires.

true i should have stated that was for stock classes. i believe you are allowed up to 17x9 in st/stx. If i was going to be in SMF i would have 17x9 rpf1s wrapped in hoosiers for a tire set up. And balance out the crazy F/R camber ratio this car has. the dampening rates for this car are way to soft stock and the shocks need to be picked wisely (KONIS). neuspeeds have good spring rates. h&r i dont know too much about never used them on my civic. i think the gti with just a tune would have more than enough power for autox. this car IMO has so much potential to be competitive locally and regionally. some one just needs to find its place.

They sell Team Dynamic wheels in may sizes and offsets to your liking. Lighweight and well built!

seriously just get some konigs. plenty of autoxers use and abuse them far worse then we ever will they are really cheap and light weight. buttttt if you arent a cheap guy in understand. no prob in spending a little extra cash on some nicer shoes. but konig daylites or rpf1 replicas are great. but just go to any autox forum and try and snag up a used set with some decent rubber still on. thats what i did

my set of TDPR did the job but after scuffing them up from mounting and dis mounting every weekend and the constant abuse they took next time i will buy cheaper

after looking it might be hard to find them in the right bolt pattern even since most of them are knock offs of jap wheels

Team Dynamics are great wheels and give you a lot of options, and for the price it's hard to beat honestly. You'd be hard pressed to find a wheel in those dimensions any cheaper else where

I'm trying to see if I can get you guys some wheels from over here. Up until now it's been nearly impossible to do business because there are so many trade barriers but things are changing. The exchange rate sucks, but people are still always surprised when they see how cheap wheels are here. The thing is the Japanese wheel companies DO NOT want the wheels that were meant for the domestic market to hit the international market. They manufacture and sell wheels in America for the American market so they don't want to compete with themselves.

Yeah I've always wanted a nice pair of Volks, but the price is just mind boggling at times. And not to mention hard to find them in our bolt pattern too

I can't even get rid of mine. I have a set for the RX7 in 18x9.5 and 18x8.5 and the best offer I got was $30.

its going to be hard to see how much room you have to play with until you actually get the tires.

Bump ...

Me, my tire guy, an other ppl have decided that it's gonna be a pita to make those 265 fit. So it's gonna be the 245 ...

What would be the perfect rim size for 245 40 17? ... And I've considered upgraded to Hoosier a6. But after reading some reviews, they made it seem that the ventus z214 were better. What do u guys think?

ok, so after some research. it seems if i want to use the correct size of wheel for 245. i should use 17x9.5. but team dynamics only offers 17x9. so i guess that should work.

im thinking of getting their Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 on 17x9. but idk what offset i should use 30mm, 35mm or 38mm.

17x9 is perfect, even 17x8.5 will be fine and most trouble free!
