DanSan's GTI Rebirth Build Thread

Some of you guys were following my thread, but my 06' GTI was totaled last September and I just picked up a 09' GTI so I am back at it again and ready to go. Since I really didnt do one for my last GTI i figured i'd give it a try. The car is pretty much bone ass stock so just give me some time and see what happens but the next few days to weeks should see some movement. ill be updating this thread when it calls for it.

Can read the details here:
http://golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155768

Also have a small part out from the GTI here:
http://golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161922

January 17th, 2012:
19,6xx miles on the clock, absolutely mint inside and out. picked up the car later in the night and it was raining.

January 18th, 2012:
First picture of the day on the 18th and it was time to get to work. Took a bunch of shit off the old GTI before they took it so I threw on the following:

Interior white/UV LEDs for dome lights
Nokya yellow fogs
Open fog grills
Euro switch
dash tray

January 19th, 2012:
Put in my 6K HID's, Nokya yellow FTP bulbs, Tunerdome LED license plate bulbs and blue tinted aspherical mirrors (i love these things, definitely recommend them, no blind spots)

nice beam pattern huh? what you expect from like $15 HID bulbs lol

ignore the garbage in there

camera didnt pick it up the light too well, and couldnt capture the UV ones in the back

January 24th, 2012:
threw in the euro r32 tails, dont mind the dirty car....

also put in clear side markers my friend gave me

January 25th, 2012:
Small update, put the yellow lamin-x film on. already had nokya yellow bulbs in. drivers side has film, passenger side does not in this pic. can barely tell..

February 3rd, 2012:
Got my AWE boost gauge and OEM revision D. diverter valve on. also got my escort 9500ix hard wired in.

wire runs towards the windshield, down the gap to the passenger side and then through the glove box into the area behind the cigarette lighter and then wired right in. theres a little control box velcro'd below all the heating controls.

March 3rd, 2012:
threw on my votex lip that came today.
old and new lip together.

March 24rd, 2012:
got the windows tinted 20% by a friend of mine who does everyones cars in the area.

April 24th, 2012:
installed my evoms intake. dont mind the sock im using to cover the secondary air filter lol

also had my sidemarkers color matched when at the body shop last week

May 26th, 2012:
bought an APR rear sway off a friend of mine. been meaning to get another as I lost mine when i totaled the first GTI

June 13th, 2012:
installed the billyboat downpipe. took almost 3 weeks to get this thing from them. had to cut about 2 inches off the pipe in order to make it fit, could have probably taken another half inch just to be sure. all the welds seem solid, o2 bungs are in the perfect spot and im loving the smell and sound of catless once again. its a little raspy, especially at cold start and pretty much no change of sound while cruising. Once you get on it, you definitely hear it.

June 20th, 2012:
BIG BIG BIG BIG HUGE thanks to Arin@APR for helping me out. Got the new car flashed to stage 2 just like the old one. since its a TSI now, went right to stage2+ testpipe file. Also got my stock file in there too.

Stage 2+ 93 Octane V1.2,
Stock

September 1st, 2012:
bought a set of FK silverlines, threw it on the car along with a skidplate and neuspeed motor mount insert. IIRC im at 20 threads up front, no helpers and also 20 threads in the back. rears might have to come up just a bit. i didnt want to slam it like last time so i found a happy medium.

Heres what on the list for upcoming items:
inpro smoke mirror turn signals (wtb if you have them)
maybe grabbing OEM LED tails
catch can
Hawk HPS brake pads/SS lines

I'm def gonna be on the look out for this build. I have a similar story, I used to own a 95 civic hatchback, It was destroyed in an accident and I picked up a 93 civic si and continued where I left off. Its good to see you stuck with your heart.

I agree with the MKV purchase. I like the in and out of the MKV better than the MK6. I look forward to following your build. I just picked up a UG 09 TSI 6 speed as well. Only difference is mine is a 4 door. Hoping yours will be an inspiration.

Wrong. All TSI's have XDS. on the MKV it's just a different acronym but its actually the same crap.
