Golf TDI 170 Electric problems

My normally very healthy TDI 170 (75K) has recently started blowing fuses. Specically the 10A fuse F23 (in the engine compartment fuse box). Prior to blowing, the car starts to loose power and stutters around 1500-2000rpm. After about ten minutes of this, the fuse goes and the "glow plug" warning light comes on.

After changing the fuse the car used to be ok for a few hundred miles before the event would repeat itself.

Yesterday, the "new" fuse(s) blew as soon as the engine was restarted. With the addition of the engine management light now coming on.

The car still runs, but power is restricted to "safe" mode (less than 3000rpm)

My local VW dealer has suggested that they need the car in for a "couple of days" to find the fault. Before handing over my car and a big wad of notes, anyone on here any suggestions as to what may be causing the issue.

Thanks in anticipation

Kaycee

Has your golf had the recall of new injectors and engine wiring loom carried out?

That has been a fault across all TDI 170 engines. That may possibly contrible since ignition issues may be upsetting the electrical and circuit protection, aka fuse.

Hope its nothing too major. If you havent had the above recall work done then have it done, its free and may solve the issue.

Best of Luck
