GIAC

come someone give me some info on GIAC, ive heard theres like 3 versions (whats the best one to choose), went to their website and hate reading all that crap, i just want to know what the price ranges are and if people are pleased with it... im leaning towards GIAC over APR/REVO cause the dealer is closer

I have the GIAC hammer chip it cost $550 no additional install charge...

I love the chip... defiantly can feel the power, waiting for a cool day so I can get a dyno and see the gains... I am not sure about the other versions of the GIAC chip but the Hammer or X chip is the most agessive and I love it.

Does anyone with GIAC have a boost gauge? I'd like to hear the numbers they're getting.

Wait... the X chip is the 93 program? What about those who live in Cali? We usually get only 91 as the highest.

They have both. Your local tuner will give you the correct version based on what octane you get in your area.

Is that as you run through the gears from a standing start, or if you load each gear up from say 2000rpm seperatly for a peak psi

Make sure with your GIAC dealer but most will re-flash at no charge if the dealer nukes it... Just so you know if the dealer notices the chip he will probably nuke your VW warranty

Wow interesting, hopefully we will be able to get that as an add on, not an entire extra 500 something dollars

my unerstanding is you get chip upgrades for life... different programs for the loader are extra but if a new version of the chip you have comes out then its yours for free, but I have never put this to the test.

Updates of a program you have already bought are free....

I think having to buy extra programs for different settings is a bunch of BS though... With Cobb Tuning for Subies you buy the $600 flash loader and then the programs are free to download. It's your choice to run the 91 octane, 93 octane, 93+ exhaust, turbo changes, ect.... Thats how it should be...

If that were the case I'd buy GIAC tomorrow.

apr is the same way and REVO gives you the software to tune your car anyway you want so the posiblitys are endless...

But GIAC is not out there with its pricing...

Revo is kind of the half way point between the two... It gives you adjustablility of the program that you run but it's just a slight step above APR and maybe GIAC's flashloader when it comes out (not alot of experience with the GIAC software)

Revo stage 1 is what it is...
Revo stage 2 is what it is...

You can't program Stg 1 to act like stage two.

That's where the Subie set up is different... $600 once and if you change turbo's to a turbo they have a support program for, you download it for free, load it into the flash loader and then plug it into the car and select it.

But yeah, Revo is nice. $500 for the flash + $325 for the SPS3, is a lil costly though...

I wanna see GIAC's Flashloader options when they get it out.
