GTI Xenon headlights: Do they display that hint of blue as the BMW & Mercedes?

Hi,
My GTI arrives next week after 3 long months of waiting.
Just a question for you guys:
I have noticed how BMW, Mercedes, Porches's Xenon lights have that crisp white light. At a certain angle, it gives off a hint of blue which looks so awesome.
I wonder if the Xenon in the GTI's also display that hint of blue.
Just curious.

Thanks

They only have a tint of blue when you first turn them on because the gas molecules are not completely excited yet. They become bright white very quickly.

Would you know if it's possible to make an upgrade, bulb replacement, etc to simulate the same effect as the BMW head lights?
Has anyone tried so far?

No need to 'simulate' the effect, as they all use the same stuff. Ballasts and projectors are usually from either Hella (mainly these days) or Valeo, and the bulbs are almost always Sylvania Osrams. I own a BMW also, and have owned a MB, Ranger Rover etc and they all look the same as the GTI after like a minute.

Also, if you were driving towards your GTI you'd see the blue/purple prism effect, but it's because of the projector, which both focuses the light and reduces glare to other drives.

I have a question for you guys...

If you flash your high-beam...do you get a halogen light beam...or a xenon light "flash"?

I ask cause usually at xenon bulbs...or actually bi-xenon, xenons are also used for high-beam. It is easy to do because there is a mechanism that just momentarily raises your bulb/projector to widen the light beam. If you have been in the interstate/highway and an A4 with xenons is coming fast and flashes the high-beam...you'll know what I'm talking about.

I just don't know if this happens also in the GTI's xenons. I have seen it in the Audi xenons...I don't see why they should have any difference since the mechanism is identically alike.

Thanks for the info...

In the GTI, the high beams with the headlights on are indeed the xenons...just moves a flap that allows the beam to project higher. If you don't have the lights on and hit the highs, the halogens light up.

Somehow my center halogens are my high beams, on top of the Xenons. I've done some work with VAG_COM though, I've got the UK setup going. Stock my car would do the flip up for the highs.
