Forge Intake + Short Shift Review

On an S3 but we share the same DNA so thought it may be useful ;)

First the Forge intake – the installation seemed to be a bit fiddly …not for the Yoda (aka Derek)
Properly done should look something like this .....

However we decided to create a hybrid using the BMC CAI as it was the safer option just incase i decided to go snorkeling or puddle hopping with the car.

Also I liked the idea of having proper intake plumbing instead of the engine cover redirect. So we decided to use my existing BMC with a cool cover heat shield from DEI.

So far I've noticed a good improvement in throttle response and the car feels more torquey down low and in the mid rpm. Sound wise only noticeable on full throttle and a slight flutter between gear changes as you come off throttle.

A huge thanks to Ian from Rennenhaus (www.rennenhaus.com.au ) for suppling the parts and the Yoda master from European Autotech (www.europeanautotech.com.au ) for the perfect install.

The result looked something like this

Forge Short Shifter
By far best bang for buck mod in a long time - shortens the vertical and horizontal movements by 50% - changes are very precise and notchy - best way I can describe it is that it's like a big light switch... absolutely love the feel and highly recommend this one for all owners after a more sporty feel.

In regards to the Short shifter, how hard is this to install? I'v been contemplating what it'd be like with a sportier shorter shift, think it'd deffinately speed things up!

Is it Hard? Please say its not hard....

How long will the plastic cable tie (that holds the heat wrap at one end) last in a hot engine bay???
Or does it get affected at all?
Love the heat wrap though!

Nice idea with making the two intakes into one

After driving the car when you open up the thermal cover is there a considerable difference in the temprature of the intake tubing and the external layer of the thermal wrap? Installing an intake on the GTI soon and am just wondering if this would be worth getting.

Also have you looked into exhaust and turbo wrapping?

Hey Mike any rattles from the short shift installation???

Nope no rattles at all - feels very solid - u won't be disapointed dude...

No issues thus far on the cable-tie - the heat wrap comes with velcro so it's easily placed and can be cut to size

nice
