Tone Instead of Horn When Locking?

when i lock my doors w the fob, the lights blink but there is no horn.

it's going to the dealer this week to be fixed.

do you know if they can replace the ghetto-ass horn honking sound with a tone? ya know, those subtle beeps you hear from other cars?

i hate the horn. reminds me of a cheapo american car.

i hate that so much, makes it hard to sneak in the house at night, ive actually left the car unlocked just so it wouldnt sound the horn lol

when i had my car vagcom'd for my euro switch and window mod, my horn sound when locking totally disappeared. Now, I just get lights.

Maybe you can just disable the sound at the very least.

VAG allows you to disable the horn. I find it comfort to know that the doors locked. Hate to not know that it wasnt locked because a door wasnt shut all the way.

I thought you could disable the lock confirm via the MFD. There was a thread on here where someone replaced the lock/unlock confirmation horn with a beep. Have to search for it.

Yep, horn can be turned off in the MFD. I forget which menu it's under at the moment though. The red security lights on the doors still blink fast to confirm it is locked.

Not sure about replacing the sound, but I thought I read before that the euro version has a separate horn that makes a much nicer tone and doesn't use the horn. Maybe look into getting that part and figuring it out? I would be interested to learn more as I am not a fan of the horn either.

You can actually use VAG-COM to good effect here. I've set it so I get the confirmation beep if I use the remote, but I DON'T get the beep if I use my key in the door to lock the car.

That way, when I'm home particularly late, I can use they key and avoid pissing off the neighbours.
