Fault codes picked up by VAG-COM

I just ran an auto-scan on VAG-COM for the first time and it picked up three errors. :frown:

The descriptions don't look too serious to me, but I note the fault code priority is 4, which the VAG-COM manual describes as "the fault recommends an action be taken, otherwise driveability might be affected".

Is this cause for alarm?

Here is an extract from the report:

I think it has all got to do with your alarm. And it happened about 340kms ago. That's my take on it anyway.

Do you have rain closing windows activated? When I had it turned on it created all sorts of strange errors, caused my alarm to go off for no reason a few times, etc.

With my Skoda, which has the rain closing function available through the full height display, the alarm doesn't go off or any other unusual behaviour, but I still get alarms from the central convenience module.

Try clearing the alarms, and monitor again with Vagcom after a couple of days, if the alarms reoccur try resetting again but turn rain closing off, and you might find the alarms no longer occur. I suspect that's what it'll be, and as long as everything works okay I wouldn't worry about it.

For expert Vag Com advice go to http://forums.vwvortex.com/zeroforum?id=510 and join up.

The support from ross tech is excellent there and they can tell you everything you need to know.

Thanks for the tip. I might just do that.

NGT10V - Yep, the alarm - that would be it. I left the windows down while I ducked into the bottle-o to grab a six pack and a bottle of wine. When I returned to the car I needed a spare hand to open the car and I thought "bugger it, I ought to test the alarm anyhow" so I just reached through the open window to pop the six pack on the front seat while I grabbed my keys. And bingo, the motion sensors kicked in and set off the alarm. Ripper.

I might just check that VAG-COM forum for a bit more info, but it sounds like the fault codes aren't too serious (despite the priority 4 rating).

Thanks.

yeah that's cool. i did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, though not with a six pack but a hat.

but still, you wouldn't expect that the alarm going off would cause any sort of "malfunction". there must be a gremlin in the somewhere... damn gremlins.

maybe someone else with VAGCOM can set their alarm off in the same way and see if any faults come up??
