Just a canadian couple giving Birth in the us of Anus
They would be responsible for the hospital bill, which, due to the baby’s premature birth and critical condition (the baby had to stay in a neonatal intensive care unit, which cost more than $10,000 per day) had risen to $950,000

US healthcare is a bitch... you guys have it good. Not to mention all the other social benefits we have to pay out of pocket for!

And as always THANKS OBAMA!

If you think our health care is free you don't know much about Canada...

If it wouldn't be the douchiest thing in the world, I could show you my T4 and make you weep. Nothing is "free"

edit: all that being said, Canada is the greatest nation on the planet (except for maybe Norway or Sweden).

Not really, but if it was, it would only be that tanks to the US and the Monroe doctrine. You're welcome

Is it more or less than 1 million US dollars to have a baby in Canada?

That is an extreme case and you know it. The only thing that is free is the hospital/doctor visit plus anything to do with IVs. All prescription drugs are not free. We have to pay for that. For example, I have crohns disease, I can go see my doctor and get an ultra sound once and a while for free but the $550ish in pills I need every month isn't covered at all. Thank god I have decent benefits at my work. My dad also has crohns but his is very severe. He takes injections twice a month that are $1500 each (http://www.drugs.com/price-guide/humira). My mom works for the hospital and has 100% medical coverage. If my mom only had 80% like I do my parents would have to pay $600 a month for just that one drug (he takes 2 or 3 other ones). Don't be fooled into thinking everything here is "free"

Also we pay extremely high taxes so that we can see the doctors for free, but that also comes with stupid long wait times and if you need a specialist quickly, well good luck with that. Unless it's life threatening you can being months to see a specialist to even begin your "free" healthcare.

No one in the US has 100% coverage.

Yeah, we have all that and we pay to see the doctor.
