How much do the back seats weigh? Does it really make a difference when you take them out, weight wise?

Holy bump.

Non-leather GTI seats with the full size, 16" steelie spare, is just under 100lbs. Leather seats I imagine are a little heavier, but R32's don't have a full size spare. It's an 18" skinny temp spare. But it's still probably every bit of 60-70lbs.

Just did this. Took 10 minutes. As far as the bit sizes, it is a 10MM triple square for the seatbelts (which if you've done the timing belt, it's the same bit used on the crank pulley bolts) and a T30 torx bit for the bearing nut.
